Tours of the Historic Gertrude Smith House
Public Event
Free tours of the Historic Gertrude Smith House from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The Victorian-Colonial Revival home contains period antique furnishings and art from all over the world, plus thousands of books. Built by Jefferson Smith Davis around the turn of the century, his daughter Gertrude was an interior decorator educated in NYC in the 1920s. She poured her love and passion into the home and willed it to become a living museum. It is located at 708 N. Main Street, next to First Baptist Church, but please enter through the rear of the home off of Elm Street. You may park in the circle driveway or on Elm Street.
