The Insane Terrain Race is fundraiser for the Elkin Valley Trails Association (EVTA), specifically for trail construction and maintenance between Elkin and Stone Mtn Park.The race course starts and finishes at the track behind the Elkin Rec Center utilizing a hilly road and newly constructed trails taking you by waterfalls and beautiful terrain following the Big Elkin Creek. No sherpas are needed and the leaves will look nice (if exertion blindness hasn't set in).

Runners will travel south on the track to the Eldon Parks Bridge crossing the Big Elkin Creek to Memorial Park Drive.Mile 2 will continue on Memorial Park Dr crossing Hwy 268 to Pleasant Hill Dr. At the top of the hill, runners will descend to the newly opened EVTA trail. The last mile will be enjoyable as participants continually run north to the Elkin Reservoir circling back to the park crossing a newly constructed bridge, a waterfall while enjoying the beautiful terrain to the finish.

8:30am start 5k only this year. Beer tastings for those 21 & up. Fun time for those that show up. Hikers and Walkers are welcome.Male/Female Age divisions: 13& under, 14-19, 20-29,30-39,40-49.50-59,60-69, 70 & over. Thank you for supporting the EVTA.
