A 5k for Canines with Canines

Thank you for your interest in this event! I am a senior at East Wilkes High School. For my senior project I am organizing this 5K-9 race to help support people who cannot afford medical treatment for their dogs.
During my high school career I have developed a love for athletics and for animals. To pursue my interest, I completed an internship at a local animal hospital. While there, I experienced several situations where a pet had a severe medical condition and desperately needed treatment. To my surprise, many owners could not afford the required treatment and had to settle for a less effective treatment that resulted in a harder, more painful and longer recovery. Unfortunately, some cases resulted euthanasia.
My heart was broken for these innocent and helpless animals. To support this overlooked issue, I will be donating all the proceeds from this event to the animal hospital To help pay for these medical treatments.

Event shirt is included in registration fee.
5k course will be on Elkin Park Track and Greenway.
Race Participant check in will be at large picnic shelter at Elkin Park.
Race Rules/Guidelines
1. Only one dog allowed per registered runner.
2. Dog must be on a leash and under control of owner AT ALL TIMES.
3. All participants must pick up pet waste and dispose of in appropriate containers.
4. Dogs in heat are not permitted.
5. Dogs with aggressive dispositions are not allowed.
6. All dogs and owners participate at their own risks, we are not liable for injuries for dog and owners.
7. THIS IS NOT A TIMED EVENT! No awards/ medals or running times will be provided.
