Why are ALL the Wilkes Trash Talkers So Quiet. It's still football season in Ashe,Alleghany&Yadkin

I thought Ashe was suppose to take this one? I thought the quarterback that they had was"the best" in the state. Their is nothing to hang ones head about for sure. This game just shows the divide when you go East. It is a whole new ballgame. Best of luck to all the MVAC teams left.

Monroe is a heck of a team and has TONS of speed. Good team that showed how good they were Friday night. Nothing for the Huskies to hang their heads over.

Well now it appears that it is down to Starmount and Alleghany. Evidently the Huskies ran into a buzz saw tonight. The kids and coaching staff at Ashe County should be proud of the season that they had. When you get into the 2AA football playoffs, you WILL run into some athletes, and evidently that happened tonight. There is no shame in losing in the second round of the playoffs. The majority of the teams in the state would be tickled to have gotten the opportunity to play a 2nd round game. The bigger question is. How does a team beat Elkin and get absolutely taken to the wood shed the next week by the Trojans. There is a silver lining though everyone except Starmount and Alleghany get an extra week to prepare for basketball, and since they were co champions last year and return about their whole squads, this might help level the playing field.

Hey Bill...that statement makes no sense at all. Check your numbers, Ashe is a 2AA school. Jealous much?? sounds like it!! Guess what....there isn't anything any of us can do about the size of another school in the conference. Until the DPI numbers are released again in two years, then if Ashe is a 3A school they will have to move to a 3A conference.

hey colonel help those of us that cant figure it out. Who do you support? And Humble you pretend to be a Wilkes Central fan and I can understand why you would have a bad attitude just because of that, but why do you find it so difficult to support the teams from this conference?

Colonel Mayo...ahahhaha kidding. We'll just have to see. As far as injuries they do play a major fact in winning and or loosing. If Ashe lost a play maker Wide out and Monroe comes in totally healthy the edge goes to Monroe. I just hope that ALL the MVAC teams can pull off a victory this week. That would be great for the conference as whole.

Ashe county is a 3A school playing in a 2/1a league, but probably will lose t this weekend!

There is no need for the name calling..I detest! (lol) But we can wait and see what happens and then debate things. I see you are alluding to the injury card already in case Ashe loses? You must remember that everyone plays with what they have. That is an all year thing. If not for injuries and opinions we would be crowning 50 state champions a year or more on what ifs.Good luck to the MVAC.

To say Ashe doesn't have a chance is crazy. Ashe has a great offense, the QB is leading the entire state in passing yds despite sitting out multiple halves of games because they were killing the "competition" (Wilkes Central, West, North and East) To say they are the favorite (a 3 seed vs a 6 seed) is crazy. Like I said it will be a tough game from the start. I Still have Ashe winning in a barn burner.

Starmount will be the only team to advance. Mostly because they are playing another cupcake that doesn't belong in the playoffs. When West Montgomery or Whiteville rolls around...season over. Ashe has no chance against Monroe. Alleghany has a chance but I don't see it. They don't play well against teams that have speed, see Wilkes Central.

Colonel Ketchup.....evidently you don't know very much about playoff football. Reidsville and Shelby are both in the 2A division and in the same bracket. If they both win this Friday then they will be "awaiting" each other.

With that being said Ashe has a very tough game in the 2 AA Division against Monroe(who lost in the state championship game last year), Starmount plays Bessemer city in the 1AA division, Alleghany plays West Columbus (who knocked out Elkin last week) in the 1A division.

I say Starmount will take Bessemer City to the wood shed (49-14), Alleghany will bring West Columbus back to reality (28-17). Ashe will be in a dog fight from the opening whistle. Ashe came out of last weeks game with some injuries to key players and IF they can keep it close they will win (28-24)

Good luck to all!! MVAC should have 3 playing Quarter finals next week!!

Congratulations to those who are left. I can assure that Reidsville awaits some lucky group from the MVAC as does Shelby. A Bigger bowl and they do the flushing. No nuggets left even- Over by halftime Please expand your parameters as you advance in the playoffs. There will be no one remotely close to Highway 221 or whatever goat path runs through Alleghany playing within 2 weeks.

Wouldn't even consider Starmount a contender. Sorry but it's the truth.

Funny..but only 1 contender left..so after ashe and alleghany get rocked in the next week or so..you can join the wilkes teams for basketball..

Just wondering?? Every now and then the cream has a way of rising to the top even out of a "toilet bowl" conference. It's funny how things are viewed differently when your in the toilet bowl as opposed to being the one doing the flushing!! Good luck to Ashe, Alleghany and Starmount this week.
