1992-1993 Academic Year

Dean's Basketball = 11 enrollments in "irregular" classes
Football = 2
All other sports = 0

(Per Unc's second response to SACS and exhibited in the Wainstein Reports.

I've heard that before with no proof of it. Also heard he wanted state hit hard in 1990 case, if is false because Jimmy v and Dean Smith were real good friends. Dean wife said they would stop by Jimmy" s or Jimmy and his wife at dean's house just to visit. At that time dook was just soooooo good and state was good then. I understand some mad being if you think all claims are true about Dean doing that, but come on, a program being down for 30 some years isn't no one's fault but the school/ program.

Dook fans obsessed with unc , state fans are worse than dook fans. State fans lives depend on unc getting in trouble, love How they know more about unc then they do states history. Not all them but most are sick minded. I understand being rivals and back and forth, but some of them on state message boards really need to seek help. I don't like dook or state , but it's a sports thing not life and death, wish no ill will on any of fans or coaches or players. But 30 years of breakdowns will do that to a fan base lol

Dean turned in Duke and State over the recruitment of David Thompson, and both schools went on probation and were barred from post-season play. A pick-up game in which an assistant coach participated was the biggest crime for getting probation. How is that for a history lesson?

Lol yeah they take racism to a new lvl by pinning it on afro studies and majority of the players exploited were African American.... What do they do for a encore, let's just through the women under the bus...lol its comically offensive.

They are trying to make Sylva Hatcher the scapegoat. No one in their right mind would believe an athletic department would go to such extremes to field successful women's sports programs.

David Parker, a lawyer for the school, revealed that Timothy McMillan, a senior lecturer in the department in question, resigned after 17 years at UNC. Parker also confirmed that academic counselor Jaimie Lee had been terminated.

Department administrator Deborah Crowder and former chairman Julius Nyang'oro, both since retired, are believed to have orchestrated the fake courses.

Boxill, who the university is trying to remove, is alleged to have guided women's basketball players into the fake classes and trying to influence grades. The report also alleges that Boxill admitted to editing student papers.

Lady vikings, because north athletics are irrelevant to anyone outside of traphill. It does not mean Duke is. It's a specifically designated thread on a forum, so you have this amazing option of not clickin on the thread. As for the hobby, really? You're going from specific forum thread to another policing people....smh

You told a lie unc said they didn't know. The guy you said was at unc years ago, now your just reaching. Thomas was a rule violation by the rules, yet just like always dook gets special treatment. Even Christian l. Said Dook got the call & special treatment . So by what you say unc shouldn't be punished because they didn't know, can't have it both ways. Again. A small violation or huge violation don't matter it's still rule being broke. You've said dook don't cheat/ break rules , then say all schools break some. Which is it? Dook broke rules there cheaters

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. North Carolina continues to be plagued by its long-running academic scandal, uncovering what possibly could be additional violations in women's basketball and men's soccer while preparing a response to the notice of allegations received in May.

The school announced Friday the response, due next week to the NCAA, has been delayed. Schools officials say the NCAA will set a new date after a review of the new information.
A release from UNC says officials were preparing to release emails from former U.S. Justice Department official Kenneth Wainstein's eight-month investigation when it uncovered more examples of possible improper academic assistance of women's basketball players.
It also discovered potential recruiting violations over two years in men's soccer that were unrelated to the current NCAA probe.
Under NCAA procedures, if those are determined to be Level I or II violations, the notice of allegations must be amended to include them.
It is unclear exactly when the new possible violations were discovered. The school says they were reported to the NCAA's committee on infractions on Aug. 10.
Athletic director Bubba Cunningham still hopes the investigation will be resolved in spring 2016.
"I know today's announcement will cause some to ask when all of this will end," Cunningham said. "I want to assure everyone that Carolina is doing all it can to bring these matters to closure as quickly as possible while also strictly adhering to the NCAA's infractions process. While we need to address these new developments, we have already completed the majority of the work necessary to respond to the NCAA's notice."
The NCAA's notice of allegations included five charges, outlining a lack of institutional control and four other potential Level I violations, which are described as a "severe breach of conduct."
The NCAA regarded issues surrounding academic irregularities within the formerly named African and Afro-American Studies (AFAM) department as potential improper benefits by saying athletes received "special arrangements" such as access to courses and other assistance generally unavailable to non-athletes.
The lack of institutional control focused on the AFAM department and the academic support program for athletes, including the conduct of a women's basketball adviser for providing too much help on assignments. No coaches were charged.
The academic investigation grew out a 2010 investigation into the football program, with the committee issuing sanctions in March 2012 in that case roughly nine months after the notice of allegations arrived.
"There is no question this has been a long and challenging process, and it is one we are committed to finishing as we started by cooperating fully with the NCAA, adhering to obligations under the NCAA's rules, and working tirelessly to secure a fair and just outcome for Carolina," Cunningham said.

"The NCAA has found no evidence of a rules violation in this situation based on the information available, and both the NCAA and Duke consider the matter closed," Duke associate athletic director Jon Jackson said in a statement.

From the ncaa on thomas, try again lol.

Lolololol unc admitted they knew Debra crowder admitted she knew....wtf are you talking about hahahahahaha. Please provide the documents on Thomas or your just guessing.... I said coach k congratulated the player yes it was a class 3 infraction, which again is a max fine of 1k dollars....again these minor infractions happen every month at any school.....you still haven't explained the 1482 violations 5 major 1 infractions the abundance of criminal charges. In the last week a player was a arrested twice returned to the team, a former administration was charged with sexual assault and more ncaa infractions findings... This is just in a week lol, duke doesn't have this many issues in a 5 year period.

SCHOOLS never ever vacate wins over gifts to player as long as they wasn't aware of it anyway....the player will be forced to sit out etc etc....cam newton todd Gurley pj Hairston Marcus Camby magette etc etc etc. If the player is gone before they find out, they do nothing. AS LONG AS THE SCHOOL ISN'T LINKED TO KNOWING. Please stop kidding yourself.
