funny you put your trust in the most over rated coach in NBA history. All his titles came with teams that where so loaded they didn't need a coach he just road alone and took credit.Look at how he does with a team that not loaded jordon and koby coached more than he did

Not true, rashed Wallace, Vince Carter was better than anyone dook put on floor last 15 years. Again the argument is Phil Jackson talking about dook players, don't see anyone talking about unc players. Plus dook has had that over there head for years no true stars. Speaking of irving what has he done really? What has he won? You think Cavs you think lebron not irving

Yes I understand you're point, he's done so well with the Knicks franchise as a evaluator of talent. Over last 15 years duke has put a better product on the floor than unc that's a true statement also.

Phil Jackson knows about nba talent. To say he doesn't is crazy talk, he said something that was true. Most dook players haven't done good in nba.

So next time I need my car fixed, I'll call my barbershop......coach and gm aren't the same, coach designs x and o and builds chemistry. Gm is a talent evaluator and manager of finances, and as a gm he has been a joke.

Phil Jackson said the statement not me lol. Plus I'll take a 11 time champion and hall of famer"s word over nbc sports writer.

Devilnation

Posted 1:28 am, 07/26/2015

NBC wrote the article not me. Lol

Let's say this, there nobody calling unc players out. This is a nba champion and hall of famer and legend saying about dook players being busts. What has been said and known for years, lol. Funny thing is the only people defending dook and saying there not busts are Dook fans lol. Phil Jackson isn't nothing to unc and unc wasn't in topic. But unc has had nba superstars and hall of fame players, dook hasn't lol = fact

See now you change it to 1 player, Danny green doing as good as any of them. I'll give you Irving as I said, but who worth anything after him? Let's just go this way if you want to change topics as you go, Jordan > anybody Dook ever had past or now not even close. Worthy , perkins, Kenny williams, brad Daugherty, Rick fox, Jerry Stackhouse, Rashad Wallace, Jamison, Vince Carter, Marvin williams in early years with hawks, ty lawson, harrison barnes, Danny green, Phil Ford was unreal as a pg, nba just had to many personal problems. Alot more not named. Ok dook top players --hill , brand, Boozer, irving, deng like m. Williams was good early on. That's about it. So yes Phil Jackson was right, most dook players are disappointments in nba

Devilnation

So right now in the nba who's better than kyrie. Nobody lol

Posted 5:58 pm, 07/25/2015

Plus you put mcroberts---- reddick------miles & mason plumlee & Ryan Kelly as good to star players in nba then Your list is debunked to begin with lol. Same goes for alot of unc players you placed on list. There a difference between getting drafted high and becoming a star. Just making a team and handing out water & towels on a good team don't count as them being stars

Fact remains unc has better players in nba right now, Funny thing is dook never had 1 nba player in hall of fame lol, again I'll take Jackson's 11 rings thoughts over yours a a 5 ring coach

DevilNation

Posted 11:58 am, 07/25/2015

Jackson earned those as a coach he's currently running a program into the ground with a top 5 talent player. As a evaluator of talent. Fact remains duke has a better presence in the nba than unc has currently.

Unc got 3-4 on list I agree with, barnes---lawson----- green--- marvin Williams early on with hawks. Dook 3-4 irving-----deng------boozer-- the others you named on both unc& dook list are role players at best mostly second stringers.

I'll take Jackson's thinking with 11 nba rings over nbc, not what I said but the 11 rings coach said about dook players in nba

Devilnation

Perhaps you didn't read were it stated last 15 years....there point, with actually objective thinking shows duke over that period has had a better presence in the nba than unc...NBC word not mine

Plus, love how you left Jamison which is role player, Carter, Stackhouse, Wallace off unc list lol. Plus Danny green has done as good if not better than anyone on your dook list. Set finals 3 pointers made record, most in a finals series, most in a finals game. Plus turning into a more go to guy in spurs future. People was saying he had shot at finals mvp few years ago. But you believe what you want I'll take facts and a 11 championship coach word over yours

unc greatest ever

How many superstars have come from dook? How many are in naismith hall of fame? Plus Jackson 11> 5 k, think he owns k in the coaching championships there. Dook best players wouldn't make unc top 8-10 greatest players list = fact. Your making it a unc topic, Jackson isn't nothing to do with unc, he still said dook players in nba have/do suck which is fact. All players you listed are pretty much role players besides hill, irving

DevilNation

Posted 11:36 am, 07/24/2015

Per NBC and based on were they was picked, unc is a bigger bust than duke over last 15 years. Not my words NBC's

DevilNation

Let's take a comprehensive look rather than cherry-picking players who could support either side of the argument.
We obviously don't know yet whether Okafor, Winslow and Tyus Jones (No. 24 this year) will live up to expectations. Jabari Parker (No. 2 in 2014) looked pretty good last year, but he missed most of the season due to injury. It's far too soon to make any judgments on him.
Otherwise, here are all Duke players drafted in the previous 15 years:
Lived up to expectations

Rodney Hood (No. 23 in 2014)
Mason Plumlee (No. 22 in 2013)
Ryan Kelly (No. 48 in 2013)
Miles Plumlee (No. 26 in 2012)
Kyrie Irving (No. 1 in 2011)
Kyle Singler (No. 33 in 2011)
Josh McRoberts (No. 37 in 2007)
J.J. Redick (No. 11 in 2006)
Luol Deng (No. 7 in 2004)
Chris Duhon (No. 38 in 2004)
Carlos Boozer (No. 34 in 2002)
Shane Battier (No. 6 in 2001)
Didn't live up to expectations

Austin Rivers (No. 10 in 2012)
Nolan Smith (No. 21 in 2011)
Gerald Henderson (No. 12 in 2009)
Shelden Williams (No. 5 in 2006)
Daniel Ewing (No. 32 in 2005)
Dahntay Jones (No. 20 in 2003)
Mike Dunleavy (No. 3 in 2002)
Jay Williams (No. 2 in 2002)
Chris Carrawell (No. 41 in 2000)
That's 12-of-21 a 57 percent hit rate.
By comparison, here are players drafted from North Carolina in the same span:
Lived up to expectations

Harrison Barnes (No. 7 in 2012)
John Henson (No. 14 in 2012)
Tyler Zeller (No. 17 in 2012)
Ed Davis (No. 13 in 2010)
Tyler Hansbrough (No. 13 in 2009)
Ty Lawson (No. 18 in 2009)
Wayne Ellington (No. 28 in 2009)
Danny Green (No. 46 in 2009)
Brandan Wright (No. 8 in 2007)
Brendan Haywood (No. 20 in 2001)
Didn't live up to expectations

Reggie Bullock (No. 25 in 2013)
Kendall Marshall (No. 13 in 2012)
Reyshawn Terry (No. 44 in 2007)
David Noel (No. 39 in 2006)
Marvin Williams (No. 2 in 2005)
Raymond Felton (No. 5 in 2005)
Sean May (No. 13 in 2005)
Rashad McCants (No. 14 in 2005)
Joseph Forte (No. 21 in 2001)
The Tar Heels are 10-for-19 53 percent.
Nobody would reasonably shy from drafting players from North Carolina, and they've fared worse than Duke players. Making snap judgments about Duke players just because they went to Duke is foolish.
Jackson is talking about a different time, when aside from Hill, Duke had a long run of first-round picks failing to meet expectations:
Roshown McLeod (No. 20 in 1998)
Cherokee Parks (No. 12 in 1995)
Bobby Hurley (No. 7 in 1993)
Christian Laettner (No. 3 in 1992)
Alaa Abdelnaby (No. 25 in 1990)
Danny Ferry (No. 2 in 1989)
Then, it was fair to question whether Mike Krzyzewski's coaching yielded good college players who didn't translate to the pros. But there have been more than enough counterexamples in the years since to dismiss that theory as bunk or outdated.
Count this as another example of Jackson sounding like someone who shouldn't run an NBA team in 2015.
To be fair, the Knicks had a decent offseason, at least once you acknowledge they couldn't land a star (which was kind of supposed to be Jackson's job, right?).
The questions Knicks fans must ask themselves: Do you trust Jackson because of the moves he has made or worry about the next move because of what he has said?
