Let's assume the Braves' scouting department is at least slightly more adept at discovering talent than someone who posts on Go Wilkes. Quite a jump, I know.

He isn't going to MLB just yet and probably won't although I wish him the best of luck. Its a tough journey to MLB.
There were no details and the Braves released no details but its not for 7 years, that's not even the way it works at that level.
He's a knuckleballer and the Braves are hoping to find the next RA Dickey, a needle in the haystack.
Best of luck to Dustin.

Actually I have doubts about the whole thing. Why would an unproven player get signed for a seven year deal. It takes a special brand of players to get seven year deals. I know you may believe everything you read and that's fine but a realistic person wouldn't waste seven years on someone who hasn't had a sub-5 era in any level beyond middle school.

Wow is it that hard to be happy for a kid that just realized his dream. It may have happened at some point in the past that I am not aware of, but major league teams normally have a pretty good idea what they are doing. When their scouting department sees something in a young player, they give them a chance. A young man from our part of the country just got his chance. Be happy, congratulate him. Don't try to burst his bubble. I really doubt that the braves signed him because they like him and want to give him some money. Seriously man.

Why would the Atlanta Braves sign someone who hasn't had any success, at any level of baseball he has played?

Congrats to Wilkes native that will keep his baseball dreams going after the Atlanta Braves sign him for 7 years. It may have been in the Wilkes Journal Patriot, but I seen it in the Record. I believe he's the first North Wilkes baseball player going to MLB!!
