Millers Creek Christian School doesn't have football because they don't have the funding for a football program. Its expensive to start a football program from the ground up.

I would assume there aren't enough kids to play football at the Christian school, they do however, have enough for the other sports.

Should they not be able to play at the school they choose? Why just West area? Im sure there are kids at the christian school who would not be in the West area.

They should be able to play if they want to. Parents with children going to MCCS pay the same amount of taxes to support public education (sometimes more) than parents with children attending public school. Athletics is used as a sanction to deter withdrawing from public school. This is unfair and is only meant to punish children whose parents feel they can improve the education of their children, by paying private school tuition. Each seat that remains empty in public school cost that school, however the tax money is paid anyway. Vouchers would be fair but is politically abrasive. Don't punish the children just to make monetary gains.

It's great that students from millers creek Christian school can now participate in west wilkes middle school football. Now how can they get involved in basketball? Soccer? Volleyball? Baseball? Why just football? Let's expand to include the children in all sports. I just hope rumors aren't true about the "real" reason students at MCCS can participate ! Foe the love of money...... Please say it ain't so! I guess it's a question for the athletic director, fingers crossed!
