Alleghany vs West

50yearold

Guys I don't know why you all are getting so butt hurt over them adding another kid to their AAU team but it wasn't even Avery Hash that hurt us at all. Fabian had 19 points and 22 rebound and Austin Sprinkle had 24 points...

Absolut moron where in the world have you been. Politics at West is what it is all about. Its not about the kids at all. Its all about how much mommy and daddy can do or how much money it takes to keep true athletes from showing their kids up. Watching daddy strutting across the floor with his chest stuck out like a bani rooster. Its a show in its self. By the way. How much did it cost you to pull the rug out from under a child this year so yours could stand out above the rest and say my mommy and daddy paid for this. Without them this all couldn't have been possible.

So what all of you are saying is the reason Alleghany beat West is because of 1 kid who played AAU ball years ago with some of the boys from West. How about the other boys who were on the court? How about Sprinkle not allowing Greer to scorr less than 10 points! They were beat because Alleghany was better! They came out and showed pure talent and sportmanship. Can't wait till you play East!

Well absoluy savage I think he needs to answer to all the west in district kids he turned down. This man by know means was helping kids other than his own and just needed better kids for his to play with. He is not a saint like you call him. I know him. You are off your rocker if you think he was trying to better the other districts kids life. He owes all the west kids he turned down an apology.

I have no vested interest, mine have been grown for a good while.

I don't think people are bashing the coach for putting in the time with the kids at all, I think they're not happy that he added players to the team from out of area.

I don't think its anything like you presented.

So if I'm reading this correctly, you are bashing a coach who dedicates his time, sweat, and money to helping young kids become better athletes and young adults? Really, the problem with youth athletics is and always will be the parents who have to live through their kids because they probably sat the bench or didn't make their respective high school team either. You should be ashamed to pin a loss on a coach who helped a youngster years ago. It's about the kids and making them better athletes and better people when they enter society. It's not about the jealous parent because their kid really isn't that good! Wake up and be realistic parents, it's great to support your kids dreams and aspirations but don't lie to them and tell them how good they are at sports while bashing their current coach, former coach, or players. The problem is you and your envy of anything successful! It's great to support your kids at sports, academics, dance, band, etc...be supportive but also be truthful to your kids

The whirlies program was and still is a great idea for west basketball. I applaued the rec ball coaches and the former A.D. for putting this thing together. I have no idea why some of the coaches went out and recruited playes from other schools though. At the original meeting it was made clear this was a program for West ONLY kids. Why they didn't stick to that I don't know west had plenty of kids willing. As far as B.E. goes in getting the sparta kid to play he really screwed up. I was there when our own kids were sitting on the bench while sparta played. They were more or less being told they can't win so we will go out and get someone that can help us win. I'll take a loss with my own rather than a win with on outsider any day. The whole program was set up to make high school better and that is what it has done. Making alleghany or north or east or whoever better against us is just foolish. Let them do their own program.

Hawki, 2nd place is your first loser and third place would be your 2nd looser. 2nd place is just your first looser. Just have to splain it to ya.

I actually thought that Ashe would finish 4th before the season started. I think that is about the talent level that they have this year. West has some really good offensive guard play, but the lack of development of their big guy and lack of commitment on the defensive end could come back to haunt them. 2nd place however is not out of reach. If West could beat the loser between Starmount and Alleghany, they could still get there. I think this is a tall order though because they lost to both of them at West, and the next game will be on the road. I think their chances might be better beating Starmount than Alleghany, because of the inside dominance that the Trojans displayed Friday night.

It looks like West will finish in 3rd place!! Alleghany and Starmount will be 1 & 2.
WC in 4th. Ashe has had a disappointing first rd of conf play they are in 5th.

East, Elkin and North 6th - 8th. these teams are really bad. they will only beat each other.

Much of the time, in smaller communities, (such as all of them in Wilkes) travel teams HAVE to bring in outside kids simply for #'s. My guess is that the team in question needed a player (or players) and they ended up being better than what was already there. I've coached travel ball and as much as you wanna develop kids and their talent, you often HAVE to bring in other kids so you don't get your brains beat in every game, because when that happens, you can lose the entire team. Bottom line, is it's competition. Competition in practice that earns you time in games. All kids get time in games, and the ones that perform, get MORE time in the following games. Tough pill to swallow for some folks, but it is what it is...Kinda like the real world.

So will West take 4th or 5th place?

But didn't the west coach come from Alleghany? Tic for tac. They got a player who developed some skills. The other got a coach that fits right in with the self distruction and corruption of West High Sports. What's in your wallet? Lol .....

What happened to West last night is the same thing that has happened to several teams this year. Alleghany came into this game giving up 37 points per game in conference, and 39 points per game overall. Over half of the teams that have played the Trojans have scored their season low in points against them. West came in averaging 70 and were held to 49 which is their lowest total of the year. If it happens all the time it is not an accident. Kudos to coach McKnight for his defense first philosophy.

Sounds like West got just what they earned. Live and learn but we know West still plays with the daddies. Too bad Alleghany was your huckleberry.
