Ok look i agree that the person mentioned as the starting QB at Wc should maybe not be starting...to me if you use his backup how many problems does it clear up? Neither of them have cannons for arms..the release is slow..accuracy is iffy...speed on the pass is poor and distance is limited..now saying that will either go to college to play? Probably not..not every team can have a QB who is 6'3 and has a tremendous throwing arm. This is 2A football...players are limited and thats just how it is.

As far as the coach goes he will play the kids whose parents support the booster club..then the rest is determined by who your seniors are and by skin color..then lastly comes those who bust their butts day in and day out just to try to see the field.
I've been told there are some very lazy players on varsity who just expect everything handed to them just as they have had done their entire lives in sports...but guess what they still start no matter how much a coach yells and tells them to hustle or play harder...put your best out there and roll with it..dont judge by skin color or height or whose parents buy banners to hang on a fence to feed the booster club...play the ones who will play their hearts out for the team and who gets the more positive results that brings home wins.

I predict more turnovers than at a "Toaster Strudel" convention!

I jus read the same thing an I agree with u. Looks like the wilkes central administration hired someone who would play daddy ball for them. Daddy ball has completely infiltrated the county. No knock on the combs kid but he has jo business starting on varsity.

Just read in the paper were the coach has named the Comb's kid the QB @ WC.

I promise you no other coach in the immediate area or probably the whole state of NC would make this choice without politics playing a big part of it.
These are the facts, not fiction:
He does not like contact.
Every time he throws the ball somebody needs to yell "Pull".
These are undisputable facts!

I dont believe they are talking about his off the field stuff more about the pouting and whinning on the field...even if he plays he will in my opinion still be jv...if not he still wont be at QB..A varsity QB has to have some sort of a mature level of thinking about him and have the trust of the team which is something he does not and will not have his year

As far as his attributes go and how he fits in the offense he would be good. I am not aware of his off the field issues or distractions. No reason to get upset.

Horton at QB??? what are you smoking???? Combs or Anderson either one is alot better plus the very first player mentioned was a distraction to the team last year and does not have the leadership qualities it takes yet to be a starting QB at varsity level nor does he have the respect of any of the older players

Actually SHK, the version of the spread WC plans on using was specifically designed to negate the athletism of the opposing teams by forcing the defense to play in one on one match ups and spreading the defense completely out thus negating the athletic ability of the defense. As far as the athletic ability of the skill position players for Wilkes Central you will not find another team as athletic and fast as WC in the area. WC always has athletes and plenty of them. Just a matter of putting it all together. I would like to see the Horton kid at QBS if he is even plain this year. Should be an exciting year WC with the talent they have 3 vendors with as young as they are.

From what I heard Turner is running the spread for sure and could be doing what Oregon does on O. That's a tough offense to run if you don't have fast and athletic players, and they must be able to take hits. Last year when I seen them they struggled a lot even running the wing, so he has some work to do.

They dropped us for Brevard for their first scrimmage (we played them first last year,) I think they will be at the West Wilkes scrimmage on the 15th this year but IDK for sure yet.

No pads have popped yet. With that being said it is to early to tell who will be anywhere, especially QB.
This is not the past coaches offense where all the QB does is hand the ball off and run to the sideline to get the next play. This one will have to have athletic ability, good arm,and most of all not mind getting hit. The coach has options and should explore them all before making a decision. I will say that whoever starts out at QB right now probably will not as the season progresses. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken **** !

Combs will be at qb..they have above average backs and plenty of them and good speed..but from what i hear the new coach is already playing favorites and catering to some when they havent even put on equipment yet..not referring to any of the backs but some guys are penciled into play even if a better player is behind them...lets see if this coach lets guys earn and take spots. Just not sold so far on some of the things going on out there yet. But time will tell if they go on looks or the heart in a player.
